   Regulations & Permits
Is planning permission required for window film on houses?
Generally, planning permission is not required to apply window film to a house. However, exceptions exist depending on the building’s classification (e.g., listed buildings). Some municipalities also have regulations concerning alterations to a building’s exterior, such as applying window film. If you are unsure whether you are allowed to install window film on your house, always check with your local authority before ordering and installing.

Is planning permission required for window film on apartment windows?
Generally not, but you should obtain the property owner's approval before ordering and installing window film on your apartment windows.

Is planning permission required for window film on commercial buildings?
Generally yes, but it depends on purpose, placement, and extent. Always check with your local authority before ordering and installing window film on a commercial building.

   Installation Questions
Can window film be installed on the inside?
Absolutely not! Window film designed for exterior use must NOT be installed indoors. Incorrect installation can damage the glass, even causing it to shatter.

Why is a 2 mm gap needed around the window film edge near the frame?
Most window frames move slightly due to changes in outdoor climate. Therefore, a rubber gasket is usually installed between the frame and the glass to absorb the movement. If the film touches the gasket and pressure is applied as the frame shifts, it may loosen over time. A 2–3 mm safety margin from the gasket is recommended for all installations.

Why is pressure-sensitive adhesive beneficial for window film?
With pressure-sensitive adhesive, the film does not stick immediately upon contact with the glass, allowing for easy adjustments. By pressing with a squeegee, the adhesive activates within a few minutes, achieving full adhesion after about 60 minutes.

Can I mix my own installation solution with soap?
You can mix your own solution using soap and water, but we strongly recommend using a proper installation fluid for best results. Our installation fluid contains no oil additives, which are common in dish soap and other household cleaners, and helps avoid a “rainbow effect” that can occur in direct sunlight due to oils drying into the adhesive layer.

How long is the drying time for window film?
Drying time can vary between 10–30 days. In colder or less sunny climates, it may take longer, while in warmer and sunnier conditions, it may be shorter. Small water bubbles and haziness may appear during drying – don't worry! This is completely normal and will disappear once fully dried.

Does the window film have to cover the entire glass pane?
Yes. All window films installed on the outside must always cover the entire glass surface. Partial coverage can cause thermal stress, which may lead to cracks or even shattered glass. Interior films such as frosted types do not need to cover the full surface.

   Care & Maintenance
How do you clean window film?
Most glass cleaners can be used, but NEVER use products that contain ammonia or other strong chemicals. We recommend mixing a small amount of washing-up liquid (approx. 15 ml) with 1 litre of fresh clean water for best results. Use a soft cloth or clean synthetic sponge for cleaning the film. Dry using a clean soft cloth or sponge and a rubber squeegee.

Do not use paper towels to wipe the film. Certain paper towel types can scratch the surface, even on scratch-resistant hard-coated films. These scratches may not be visible right away but can damage the film over time, making it look dull or worn.

NOTE! DO NOT WASH THE WINDOWS FOR THE FIRST 30 DAYS AFTER INSTALLATION!
